Portraits

Overall, I really like my final product cause it challenged me to think out side the box and be creative. Everyone was using the ketchup bottle and mist bottle to apply their development so I decided to go for the paint brush so that I had more of a unique final product. I think this image is thought provoking because the eye are the main focus and eyes can tell you a lot. That also makes the image open to the viewers own interpretation of what story the eyes are telling. I also really like how it almost seems like the photo was taken through a foggy and wet window of a car or building. It makes the photo seem spooky in a way making it a stronger image in my opinion.

Artist Statement:

For this assignment we needed to take a full roll of film that captured portraits. I am still getting back into the gist of film photography so my photos captured too much light only giving me a few well lit photographs. I took picture of a bunch of my friend because then my final project would have meaning. My next step was to alter my photo in some way. So I applied developer with a paint brush and I used a spray bottle (filled with developer) and let the mist fall on to the photo paper. Then I developed the rest of the photo paper for a few seconds and went on with the process.

If I had to redo this project, I might develop the background a little bit more so that it makes the photo feel dual layered. This would make the photo have more detail.
