Organic Forms

Artist Statement:

For my project I wanted to include many different textures of nature and include the pattern in the wood. I wanted to capture these different natural forms in one photograph. So I found this old fire wood that had been in the bushes and saw it has many different textures. I started by experimenting with the way I took the photo and decided head on was the best way to take the photos. This photo achieved what I was going for because even the objects surrounding the log have textures and patterns.

Overall, I am really happy with how this turned out, it really shows the textures and patterns that are naturally occurring. If I could do this project over again I would take the photo a little less zoomed in so that the patterns and textures are more front and center. I would do that because it would be more standout-ish.

I love my final photograph just because it is full of natural pattern and texture. I was inspired to take this photo because I always see photographers taking pictures of the rings of old trees almost as if they tell a story. So I took this photo to sort of tell a story but also to show what great things you can find in nature and the outdoors. GET OUTSIDE!
