Monochromatic Color

Artist Statement: For this project I was inspired by a pink floral vintage lamp that we have in our house. Next to our vintage lamp are some pink and white flowers so I thought i would make the whole photo have a pink hue to it. I experimented with the distance from the lamp and the angles I took the photograph. I put it into photoshop and added a pink/red hue to the photograph making the whole photograph appear pink. I really like how in this photo the metal stand for the lamp is like reflecting the light and making it shinny. I also like how the flowers are in the "shadows" of the photograph. I incorporated my concentration with the actual flowers and the flowers painted on the vintage lamp. If I had to do this project over again I could maybe do a more natural pink hue rather than a hot pink hue which is more abrupt.

Overall, I really like my final product especially with the hot pink hue added to the photograph. It makes the photo feel complete since it is all one color. If this photo didn't have the hue, I feel that the photograph would not be as strong as the photo with the pink hue. The pink hue gives of a warm feeling yet and edgy feeling to it. We don't really consider hot pink to go with nature which is what makes the photograph so unique and different that other monochromatic photographs.

This photograph is probably my favorite final project I have done just because of the feeling it gives off and the perspective it has. For example, how there is more light in one spot than the other so its almost like the photograph is coming out of the shadows which has a cool feeling. This photograph was my favorite.
