Geometric Shadows

Artist Statement:

For my project I wanted to capture a shadow that goes with my concentration. I wanted to portray a spooky feeling through one photograph and a free feeling photograph. So I took one photo in a dark room and one photo in the light outdoors. I started by experimenting with the way I tilt the camera and where I take the picture. I took the photo then brightened the photos and didn't add filters. The second photo has increased contrast.

Overall, I am really happy with how these turned out, it really shows the feelings I was trying to grasp. If I could do this project over again I maybe wait till it was darker out side to get the shadows so the glare wasn't as bad or take it near the ocean or some other location to maybe make a more intriguing photograph.

What I like most about this photograph is that the snow is like almost holding the shadows from the trees. The trees make an abstract photograph which gives the whole image a abstract feel. I really like the second photograph even though it doesn't bring in my concentration because the shadows are the background and I like how you can see the inside of the lightbulb. That is a little detail that you pick up while looking at the photograph.
