Minimalism

Artist statement: For my minimal photograph I knew I wanted to incorporate a mirror. My dad has been gone for business for a week or so, and he sent my mom flowers. She had put them in a vase and I thought they looked pretty so I started to take pictures around 10 at night. I then thought this would be perfect for my minimal photograph because the only thing in the picture is the rose and its reflection. There is nothing else distracting you from the rose. I love how pretty the rose is. The message I wanted to get across is beauty doesn't need to be seen in a mirror cause everyone is beautiful in their own unique way so I got that through a naturally beautiful rose "looking" in the mirror.

Overall, I love love love this image. It makes you think about why the rose is looking at its self. This is a very strong image and it brings in my concentration with the flower. If I had to redo this project i could maybe edit with selective color or take the photo farther back so there was more negative space so that it forces the eye to have to pay attention to detail and to focus on the beautiful subject.

I love the color of the rose and how the reflection is so clear and the background is empty. There is nothing distracting the eyes from the detail and beauty of the rose. I love this image because of how strong of an image it is. I think what really makes me love this image is the reflection cause it is so pure and clear. It is almost like doubling the beauty of the rose.
