Time Capsule

Artist Statement:

This drawing is representing my hand holding a pair of scissors. There isn't a message or theme because it is a still life of a hand holding an object. I made this piece by holding a pair of scissors in my left hand while drawing with an HB2 pencil in my right. It relates to my life being that it is my hand and that it is meant to be a still life of something with lots of negative space. This piece represents a skeleton wearing a beanie. Like all of the time capsule drawings, there isn't a theme or story to them they just represent what I can do as an artist with positive and negative space. I would like to mention that it is not me that made the pictures sideways, they are fine until they were uploaded to sites. This piece of art represents the corner of my room. Like the others, it does not have a story or theme but it does showcase my perspective skills and how I can draw from life. I tried to use my skills of perception however, I am still trying to figure out how to express where things are. This artwork represents my abilities to create a self-portrait. It shows that I can begin to show how shadows are introduced in the eyes and face. It also shows that I can begin to fill negative space. If I were to add more to this piece I would add more details to fill the negative white space with more features of the face.
