Written Reflection:
My overall experience from this class was very positive. I came into freshman year with little art skills, but was eager to gain more. I was able to learn quickly that art takes time and that I cannot rush through any project and expect a good grade. I enjoyed many different processes this year; my favorite technique was blending different colors together to make a new color. This was shown in my art when we made our color study project, as I used many different shades of blue to make the water look more natural. I very much enjoyed making each square different than another.
There were many different processes that I found to be difficult this year. Creating art that had shadows and shades was very difficult for me. When we created our scratchboard project I had difficulty when I was trying to make my self portrait show shadows. The artwork from the year I am most proud of is my abstract show drawing. I am most proud of it because it shows both my creativity and my work ethic. I was able to show all of the art techniques that I possess in a manner that I enjoyed to create.
I have improved a lot in the last nine months with my art ability. From my first beautiful oops to my final project there are many different pieces of evidence that prove my improvement. I have been able to broaden my imagination and improve on my creativity, this is shown there being a different idea for every project. I have also been able to show my use of color to add new life to an otherwise bland artwork. This is shown with my surrealist collage, as it has many different colors that makes the foreground pop to the viewer. Art related to my life in many ways. First and foremost, art is an outlet to express my thoughts and feeling about certain things in the world. Art gives me the ability to show others how I live my life, how I express my feelings, and how I can make the world a better place.
