Artist Statement

In this project, we layered one image on top of another, added a white background to the first, then deceased its opacity to have some of the image behind show through. I used photoshop to do the editing. It was complicated, but it mainly consisted of selecting the subject, creating a white background, and then tweaking the opacity and lighting effects until I liked my result. I decided on this level of opacity because it clearly shows the face of my subject while also allowing for the trees and sunset in the background to show through. I struggled with getting the cropping right around the hair, and if improvements could be made, I would be more careful around the hair.
