Wire Sculpture

Artist Statement

This is a sculpture I made of a hand. I made it by bending and crimping wire together to match the shape of the model hand I was using. I chose to do this piece because I love how detailed hands are, and I thought it would make a very neat piece to sculpt.

I used movement in this piece because it is a sculpture, and therefore has motion to it, with the way it is posed and the way the fingers lean and reach out. It evolved because at first I was making the fingers in a layer like way, making circles and attaching them, but I decided it would be easier to make long pieces and attach them at the top.

There sin't meaning. I just sculpted a hand. It relates to my life because I like hands? I don't know. I made it, and it's a hand, which is pretty cool. If I could change it I would have just been more careful throughout the process because some of the wire moved around at first and doesn't look as good now as a result.
