Class Colaboration

Artist Statement

This is a multi color enlargement exercise we did in class. We each made a pice of the photo and put them all together to make one photo. I first sketched it in pencil and then added color with crayola markers. I didn't chose to make this assignment, I was handed a slip of paper from a magazine and told to draw it, but bigger, so I did.

This uses pattern, color, and line. pattern is shown in the precision of the lines as well as the repetitive colors. Color is shown in the minimalistic style of coloring. Line is showed once again in the precision of the shapes. It evolved because at first I was just going to use graphite to shade it, but then I decided to use markers so it would contrast mor differently from the other ones in the piece.

I'm pretty sure it's a piece of Sugarloaf, although no one actually finished their pieces too, so it's not finished, so I cant really tell. I guess it tells a story because Sugarloaf is a special place for many people, but I don't ski, so it doesn't have much of a story to me. Like I just said, it doesn't really relate to my life at all. I don't like the style I used to create it, I don't ski, and it was a group project, where I prefer to do work alone. I think it could be a lot stronger if I were more careful with the markers and made sure that it was opaque.
