Artist Statement:
This piece is of a bunch of random faces and things I observed from around the classroom, only I drew them without looking at the paper while i drew. I held a pen and drew what I felt was right, then looked back at my paper and used water colors to color the shapes I had. I chose something from the room and started drawing. once i finished it, i turned the paper and started on another one. Then I turned the paper and did another one, so on and so forth until I had a bunch of scrambled faces and shapes.
Line, shape, and color were all at work here. Line in the drawing of the piece, shape in the freehandedness of it all, and color in the select places I chose to put it to add interest. My project evolved as i drew each face, because as I started each one ,I never knew what I was going to get i the end ,since I couldn't see what I was drawing. The meaning was mostly me trying to figure out how I felt about this new style of drawing. I was experimenting with shading with watercolors, or just trying to get a fade kind of thing, and i feel like I did pretty well with that, too.
