Concentration

This is a series of works that I am creating to investigate human anatomy. Previously I have done observational drawings of human skulls and bones and have found the detail and precision intriguing. I am now investigating other applications of different aspects of the human anatomy in this concentration. I have chosen human anatomy because the complex systems that make up our bodies are not only intrinsically artistic, they have applications everywhere in the natural and man-made worlds.

This concentration evolved from my interest in human bone structure, even as a little kid. I more recently began drawing bones in detail and have found it to be challenging but gratifying. I find it rewarding to bring the different parts of the body to life, not only in their own representations in my work, but also in their diverse settings and applications.

My goal here is to find and express new ways of thinking about the human body and its functions. I am expressing my fascination with with these ideas through visual representations and connections across realms of thinking and being. For this reason, all of these pieces relate in different ways to my life, experiences, ideas, and interests.
