The RAHS podcast, Beaver Tracks, is back for another year, hosted by Principal Mrs. Katie Mathews and Assistant Principal Mr. Matt Bauer. The show's mission is to enlighten people in the high school and out what is happening in the school and celebrate the accomplishments of students and staff.
Beaver Tracks functions as a window into daily life at RAHS. According to Bauer, the podcast "highlights the things that are happening in this high school. And it tries to provide the community with a look behind the curtain, to see the things students and teachers are doing that they might not be aware of."
The podcast covers a variety of engaging topics, primarily focusing on RAHS clubs, activities, sports, and music. The hosts also take time to highlight staff, such as during Teacher Appreciation Week.
For students, listening in is a chance to connect with peers and stay informed about school opportunities. Bauer said, "You will get to hear your classmates and your friends share their experiences, and you will be able to celebrate them for what they are doing, or just have an awareness of everything that's available."
Matthews agreed, saying the show provides an opportunity for the community to learn about things that may otherwise go unknown.
"It gives us an opportunity to share the cool stuff and to celebrate with our community, the things that our youth are engaged in and to celebrate how great our kids are." said Mathews.
Just this past week, our class, Reedsburg Features, had an opportunity to be on Beaver Tracks to promote the news site we have started.
“I enjoyed being able to voice my opinion about the class and I got to share how the class has been an outlet for creativity for me,” said Tyler Asp ‘26, who shared information to the community about how he created the design and logo for our website.
Do you want to be a guest on an episode? Students are encouraged to pitch ideas and appear on the show. To get involved, simply talk to Mr. Bauer.
“Let us know what you're doing!" Bauer said. "If you're in a group that is doing something that you want to highlight or just have an outside-of-the-box idea, let us know.”
