There are a lot of exciting, new things happening in the CAL Center, said Technical Director Mr. Brian Pittman.
This past week, Pittman said the Missoula Children’s Theater held tryouts for their annual one week production featuring students from elementary to high school. This year’s show theme is Hercules and the show takes place Saturday, Sept 27 at 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM in the CAL.
In addition to Hercules, the RAHS Drama Club recently held auditions for the fall musical Newsies. There will be rehearsals and set construction going on over the next two months until the production dates, which are November 14-16.
Ruby Baker ‘27, a stage manager Newsies, said she is looking forward to the experience of managing the show.
“I am excited mainly because this is the first year I am a stage manager for a high school level performance,” said Baker, who noted that all of the scene changes will be a great challenge to work through.
Pittman noted that a few other recent CAL highlights included comedian Charlie Beherens performing in front of a sold out show in early September. He also said a few new key upgrades such as a video switching system have recently been installed and “dramatically improved both video display capability.”
No doubt, it will be a busy and exciting fall at the CAL.
Kallie Adams ‘28, said she’s excited about acting in Newsies because she loves how it’s based on a true story and the music is amazing. “I also love theater in general.” said Adams, who encouraged everyone to come out and support the RAHS theatre program by attending one of the performances.
