Learning Objectives
Explain how the growth of the Spanish Empire in North America shaped the development of social and economic structures over time. (SOC)
Explain how and why European and Native American perspectives of others developed and changed in the period. (WOR)
This video not only recaps some of the topics from our previous class, but does a nice job of re-framing these events and transitioning to our next investigation.
Lesson Plan: Pueblo Revolt, part 2
In lieu of the original lesson plan options below, we will use today to finish our activity on the Pueblo Revolt that was based on the Alan Taylor reading. Afterwards, we will transition to a short mapping activity based upon identity. I am leaving the original and older "alternative" lesson plans up here only if anyone wishes to investigate them out of their own interests.
Working in pairs, students will read excerpts from this research paper and debrief one another on how the archaeological evidence from the Pueblo Revolt may lead to a better understanding about its meaning and aftermath
Alternative Lesson Plan: A Brief and True Report, European Depictions of Native Americans & the New World (If time allows)
