We will go over expectations of how to incorporate documents, using SUM HIPPies (at right)
Students will be given a hard copy of a ONE of these practices DBQs: (DBQ 1, DBQ2 no direct student access)
Using the DBQ Outlining Guide (handed out in class), students will then outline their essay.
Your final written answer will be completed via Google Classroom
SUM HIPPies
Students will be given 20 minutes to prepare and 35 minutes to write both a thesis paragraph and ONE supporting body paragraph. The body paragraph should utilize at least ONE DBQ document along with at least ONE piece of specific outside evidence beyond the docs.
You WILL be allowed to use the paper copy of your DBQ as well as the notes you had taken on the DBQ Outlining Guide mentioned above.
Your SAQ will be graded using the following standard:
Summary of the document, including extended HIPP analysis. Be sure to indicate which document you are using (list the # in parenthesis)
Proving ONE example of outside evidence NOT already provided but still related to the document.
Explaining how and why the information of your DBQ document AND your outside evidence relate to the argument from your thesis paragraph above.
Your thesis paragraph may ALSO be counted as a separate SAQ grade using the following standard:
Providing background/context to the question, which includes historically specific evidence and an explanation of the connection to the topic of the prompt (1-2 SENTENCES)
Providing a historically defensible argument which addresses the prompt.
Providing historically appropriate categories of analysis that outline the arguments in support of your thesis
