There is a wide range of clubs, activities and trips offered throughout the year, such as yoga, chess, football, running, as well as cinema and theatre trips, paintballing, laser tag, escape rooms, ice skating, excursions to local areas and places of interest (eg Leeds Castle) and several sports. We have good local leisure centres in Medway, as well as local sports clubs. Cinemas, theatres and shopping centres are also in easy reach.
Boarders have use of the College gardens during warmer periods, which include an all-weather sports court. Boarders are also able to use the College gym (following an induction) in the evenings under staff supervision.
Here at RIC, we offer the opportunity for students to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award! This is a fantastic opportunity for students to challenge themselves whilst gaining valuable skills and happy memories for the future!
Here is a short clip from the DoE explaining more about what you will be getting up to : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7kY2w4A7_s
And here is more information from the Duke of Edinburgh website: https://www.dofe.org/do/sections/
For more information please speak to our Duke of Edinburgh managers Claire Carter and Charles Osborn
All clubs, trips and activities are advertised in the boarding houses and through the website www.ricboarding.org.uk The majority of these activities are optional, so students can sign up for those that interest them. However there are a few full boarding events, such as the boarders welcome meal, Christmas party, College productions and the boarders awards party, that all boarders must attend.
Costs of activities are deducted from the tuition deposit. Once signed up for an activity, if you then decide not to go you will still be charged.
