All boarders are issued with two laundry bags and will be allocated a specific day during the week in which their laundry is done. Dirty laundry must be brought to the laundry room the night before the allocated laundry day at the times listed below. It will then be washed, dried and folded and is normally ready to be collected the following evening.
Boarders are responsible for sorting their own clothes, if necessary, into lights and colours, general and delicates, between the two laundry bags provided. These are marked with your building and room number and count as one wash load. The cost of one wash load per week is covered by the boarding fees and any extra will be charged at £5. This will be deducted from the tuition deposit. Students can wash delicates by hand in the laundry room by arrangement with the housekeeping staff. Special materials such as silk, leather or woollen items cannot be washed on the main cycle. Should boarders wish to iron any clothes, irons and ironing boards are provided in the houses, please check with the boarding staff.
We recommend that all items of clothing are named – either with proper name labels or by using a laundry marker to put initials on the tags. This enables us to ensure that no laundry gets mixed up.
If a boarder uses the college bedlinen, this will be changed weekly by the housekeeping staff (on an allocated day). If you choose to use your own bedinen, this will need to be put into your laundry bags along with your other laundry. For this reason, if using your own bedding, we recommend that you have two sets so that you have one that can be used while the other is washed. We will monitor those that use their own bedding to ensure that it does get washed regularly in order to maintain hygiene.
