Class C uniforms are a substitute for the standard Class B that may be more appropriate to a given mission and its requirements. Command authorisation must be obtained before substituting a Class C uniform for a Class B.
There are a variety of Class C uniforms to suit different types of missions. It is at the discretion of the mission commander which uniform is authorised.
This uniform can be purchased from your local clothing retailer. This uniform is a suitable alternative for the SDU under most circumstances, if you do not own an SDU. However, even if you do not own a correct and accurate Class B uniform, it is required to obtain command approval for substituting an LU.
This uniform is designed to be easy and inexpensive to assemble. All you need for certification is jeans and a t-shirt. All the rest is optional.
Examples of missions that might require an LU (as authorised by the mission commander):
Casual social events;
Games nights;
Non-Star Trek movie nights;
Hikes;
Picnics;
Camping trips.
