Class B uniforms are the default uniforms to be worn by Dauntless crew-members while on duty and attending events, unless otherwise ordered. If you do not own one, see the Alternatives section below.
There is only one set of Class B uniforms: the Standard Duty Uniform (SDU). All Class B uniforms are unisex. This uniform comes in several variants, depending on your rank and preferences.
The uniform can be purchased online or made to specifications. When making this purchase, be sure to get the correct variant for your branch of service and rank. If ordering online, it may be necessary to have the uniform fitted after delivery.
Examples of missions that might require an SDU (unless otherwise stipulated by the mission commander):
Crew meetings;
Media interviews;
Competitive gaming tournaments;
Conventions;
Non-formal parties;
Public events where media presence could be expected.

If you do not own a Class B uniform, you have two alternatives:
Under normal circumstances, and with command approval, you may substitute the SDU with a Class C (LU) uniform. This is not an appropriate substitute if the event is a formal (Class A) function. If you're uncertain whether it would be appropriate for the event in question, consult with the event's commander.
The civilian equivalent of the SDU is "smart casual" or "business casual". This generally means a collared shirt and slacks (or equivalent).
In some virtual simulations, it is possible to create an accurate uniform for your avatar for use in officially sanctioned events. Please use the correct items and customisations as below:
Star Trek Online provides a complete, accurate uniform. However STO only provides rank insignia for Commissioned Officers.
All Enlisted Personnel should set the rank on their uniform to "None".
