The RCDSB offers Summer eLearning opportunities for students in Grades 9 to 12 through its membership in the Ontario eLearning Consortium (OeLC).
Full credit courses are offered to students currently working towards their high school diploma. Summer eLearning is a great option for students who want to complete additional high school credits or upgrade previously completed courses during the summer months.
Courses may be offered through the RCDSB or through another OeLC member Board.
Summer eLearning courses are available both in July and in August. Courses run for the full 110 hours over a 4-week period. Students are only able to be registered in one Summer eLearning course at a time.
For students to be successful in Summer eLearning, they must have a reliable internet connection for the duration of their course and be committed to attending regularly and participating in all classroom learning activities.
Please contact your home school Guidance Counsellor to register for a summer eLearning course.
Students have the opportunity to earn credits toward their high school diploma through summer Cooperative Education opportunities. With Cooperative Education courses, students have the opportunity to:
experience hands-on learning,
try out different career options,
apply their classroom learning,
earn credits through workplace experience,
develop workplace skills and habits, and,
gain valuable work experience that will help build a résumé for post-secondary programs and future employment.
The Summer Cooperative Education program runs over a 5-week period beginning in early July and ending in early August (contingent on student interest, funding and other factors). Students will be supported throughout the program by an RCDSB Cooperative Education teacher; however, students must arrange for their own paid or unpaid placement before applying for the Summer Cooperative Education program.
Please contact your school's Guidance Department for more information or to register for this program.
