The school year is divided into two equal parts:
SEMESTER 1 runs from September to the end of January;
SEMESTER 2 runs from February to the end of June.
In each semester, the student has the opportunity to take four courses and obtain four credits for a total of eight credits per year.
Final evaluations are administered near the end of each semester. Students should make every effort to attend daily for the last two to three weeks of a semester, as this period allows students to demonstrate comprehensive achievement of the overall expectations of the course, which determines 30% of the student’s final grade.
Parents should receive a formal report on the progress of their student four times per year - once at the midpoint of each semester and once at the end of each semester. Parents, of course, are invited to contact their child's teachers at any time to get an update on the progress of their child.
Each school day is divided into four 75-minute periods - 2 periods in the morning and 2 periods in the afternoon.
In general, the school day will look like this - although the times of each period may vary slightly from school to school:
8:20 am - 9:35 am - Period 1
9:45 am - 11:00 am - Period 2
11:00 am - 11:45 am - Lunch
11:45 am - 1:00 pm - Period 3
1:05 pm - 2:20 pm - Period 4
The order in which you have your classes each day will vary from week to week. For the first term of a semester (September-November and February-April), classes will alternate on a Week 1 and Week 2 basis:
Week 1: A, B, Lunch, C, D
Week 2: B, A, Lunch, D, C
Then, for the second term of a semester (November-January and April-June), classes will flip from morning to afternoon and vice-versa, and will alternate on a Week 3 and Week 4 basis:
Week 3: C, D, Lunch, A, B
Week 4: D, C, Lunch, B, A
