FP-MS-02.mp4When I was researching accepting imperfections, I came across wabi-sabi - a Japanese philosophy that embraces imperfections. It accepts that nothing lasts forever and appreciates simpler things. I went further and looked into art forms under Wabi-Sabi and I found kintsugi - the art of fixing things by using lacquer and gold dust. After I took a kintsugi workshop I finally understood that accepting imperfections is looking at your flaws and learning to do better from them instead of trying to hide them. It is accepting that nothing lasts forever, so you should enjoy simpler things with natural flaws.
FP-MS-01.mp4In older movies, dots or specks on the screen are due to scratches or dust on the film surface. In my video, flickers of dots appear throughout. They remind me of the imperfect old movies. If you look closely, you can see that the flickers in my video are actually birds flying around. Even though these dots in the video may seem flawed, they are beautiful birds enjoying the morning glow.
