Speak up!  Speak Out!

by Michael Denson, 7th grade

I created a painting/drawing of my version of "David and Goliath".  In my artwork Goliath represents bullies, and David represents the person getting bullied.  I drew them against the Adams campus because bullying tends to happen at school, and this art expresses my experience with bullies last year in 6th grade.   This year I have learned to use my voice, to stand up for myself.  If more students like me stood up for themselves, maybe bullies would understand to leave people alone.  Just because we are smaller, doesn't mean that we are weaker!

Silenced

by Ayla Dowdell, 7th grade

In this painting, the people have longed for equality or recognition amid the tortuous despair they have endured. Yet they have been silenced. Silenced for speaking the truth of what they have undergone. They shout as loud as the ear can hear to break the forbidden curse of their voices, yet they are not listened to.

Be kind to others

by Yumie Lee, 7th grade

My friend once told me that she joined a friend group with her best friend. They would say bad things about people behind their backs. I thought about this and in that situation she could have spoken up to them and told them that what they were doing was not nice. I think that being kind can prevent hatred.

For our home

by Hannah Vecchiarelli, 7th grade

Your Voice is More Powerful than the Monsters in Your Head

by Bailey Shekar, 7th grade

"The black monster is inside our heads, and it is many things. It is fear and depression, it wants to control you. It makes you feel bleak and empty, and see a gray perspective. It doesn’t want you to use your voice, it tells you your cries for help will never be heard. You can’t give in, that’s what the monster wants. But you need to use your voice, cry out, ask for help. Show your voice, your struggles, and all. Take away the monster’s power, turn its darkness to colors, and make your voice heard."

Shattered Voices

by Eli Kano, 8th grade

Over time, humanity has been torn apart and shattered. People have faced discrimination and had their voices silenced. This is why it is so important to show your voice. Humanity is slowly being pieced back together and voices are being heard. I have illustrated different people from different cultures, races, religion, etc. and their voices speaking out and being heard.

A voice with no sound.

by Morgan Mayeda, 7th grade

Voices aren't always loud, they can be quite, muted, or sometimes voices don't even have to make a sound and they can still be heard. Making a stance is about having a strong and empowering voice that could impact the world or the world of someone. When I use my voice, I remember that I can’t please other people, I’m making a move to show my voice and make sure it gets heard.

My voice is my creations

by Amelia Lee, 6th grade

Finding my voice is discovering how I can be  a creator and can make new things. I started crocheting a few years ago, I started by making bracelets, then I figured out how to make scrunches and then I had the idea of making outfits for my Barbies

Just a bedroom

by Madeline Minne, 6th grade

I think my project relates to the theme show your voice. If you look around, you can see LGBT+ flags. I myself, am not gay or bisexual, but I support the LGBT+ community. I think that people should love who they chose to love. This drawing also reflects myself, because if you look at it, not everything in the picture is perfect. Life is not perfect. There will always be flaws. I think that is wy this drawing relates to the theme, Show my Voice.

chicano lifestyle

by Joshua Quintero, 7th grade

"My drawing is about my Chicano lifestyle and how  people see some of us as gangsters. The image of the Demon represents the force that wants us to be in a gang or want us to be in the type of lifestyle but we know it's wrong.  The cross is of Jesus, who we know will always watch upon us  and protects us.

Lowrider cars allow us to express our art and creativity through vehicles.

Felix the cat represents seeing something in different way, because he is a cat, but not a typical cat. "

There are three factories on a mountain, which often discharge sewage into the creek, which results in only one male, one female and two deer in the entire mountain. Wild Alaska

by Claira Altenhofen, 6th grade

I can show my voice through my artwork. This piece that I've created is made out of watercolor. It's a picture of Alaska. On the picture, there's a stripe of red-orange. This represents Canada. At the top, there's the northern lights. The artwork has the snowshoe hare, artic fox, polar bear, snowy owl, moose, orca, and whale. There's also a glacier, field of fireweed, and cabin. It relates to the theme because Alaska is isolated from the rest of the U.S. so I think it needs to show it's voice a little, too.

Having respect to each other

by Giselle Perez Lopez, 8th grade

This drawing means that every single person in this world should be respected because we are all different and unique by color, races, etc and that is how God created us. How we can show our voice is that we can be an example to others by treating others respectfully.  One person or more that respect others can change maybe not the whole entire world but it can change their life and other peoples mindsets and their lives!
