I am Water Wise
by Kendall Buss, 8th grade
My photo represents a drought tolerant plant that can be used in my community. I completed a project for my Girl Scout Silver Award. My mission was to educate the community on droughts and how they affect California. I planted a drought-tolerant garden near my school to show people how to be water wise. Garden irrigation accounts for the majority of water use in my community. I want to encourage people to utilize drought tolerant plants in their garden. I also chose plants that attract pollinators. My photo shows a salvia plant with a bee facilitating pollination to sustain vegetation.

The Difference is The Same
by Abigail Hairrell, 7th grade
To change the world, you must understand where everyone comes from. The world can sometimes be confusing but it is full of others like yourself trying to find a place to belong to. To go in depth, everyone is the same person on the inside, and even though everyone sounds different, looks different, and feels different, that doesn’t mean that they should be treated differently. Because the truth is, we are all different and all the same. It is not about your appearance, it is about your personality and the choices you make, even when nobody's watching.

Glowing leaves
by Garrett Christian Behling, 6th grade
With this picture I am trying to capture the beauty of nature. Looking at this picture makes me happy. I will change the world by protecting the environment. I will plant trees because they take in carbon dioxide and make oxygen. To much carbon dioxide will warm the earth.
Honorable Mention
Seagull and trash at the peer
by Myles Otten, 8th grade
This photo is of a seagull and some trash near it. I was at the peer because I thought there would be some cool pictures there and this picture lined up perfectly.
It's Important to Get Vaccinated
by Taylor Reuter, 7th grade
Now, more than ever, it is important for everyone to get fully vaccinated for COVID-19 to help slow the spread of the Coronavirus. I got vaccinated to protect my family, friends and myself.
