About Reflections
Founded in 1969, Reflections is an arts contest organized by the National PTA that encourages all students in prekindergarten through grade 12 to explore the arts for fun and recognition. It has served more than 10 million students.
Reflections provides the opportunity for regional, state and national awards and recognition. The winners from each school advance to compete with their peers at the school district, regional, state and national level.
Reflections calls for students to REFLECT on a common theme and use their imagination to CREATE original works of art. All participants CELEBRATE and share their artistic works with their family, school and community.
Participants may submit entries in any of 6 categories:
Dance Choreography
Film Production
Literature
Music Composition
Photography
Visual Arts
Participants compete with their peers at one of 5 age/ability levels:
Primary (grades K-2)
Intermediate (grades 3-5)
Middle (grades 6-8)
High (grades 9-12)
Accessible Arts (all grades)
The Accessible Arts Division is for students who identify as having a disability and who may receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504. This division welcomes students from ALL grades and offers non‐artistic accommodations in order for students to participate fully in Reflections. Alternatively, these students may choose to forgo the non‐artistic accommodations and enter in the traditional grade division most closely aligned with their functional ability.
Reflections at Adams Middle School is organized and supported by Adams Middle School PTSA.
