On Wednesday, April 15th is National Family Day. At QA Sidra this is a special day of learning. It is a day where families can spend quality time together engaging in different learning opportunities.
Our learning expectations for National Family Day are that:
students engage with their families in one or more of the suggested family activities, and
upload evidence of their Family Day activities onto SeeSaw or ManageBac.
Students who upload evidence of their family activities will be considered present for the day. To help guide you with potential family activities our Well-being Council has created a list of activities that do not require any screen time for you and your children.
We hope that you enjoy some quality time with your families for National Family Day!

As we start our fourth week of online learning, here are few important announcements:
Coming up this week in the QAS Family Day on Wednesday. The Well Being Team have been working hard to plan some fun activities for all the family. More information to follow.
Please remember that Thursday this week will be Day A, and next Sunday (19th April) will be Day B.
Here is a statement by our Principal Ms. Carolyn Mason Parker about this transition:
As we continue to refine and reflect on our practice, as a result of experience and based on your feedback we will be transitioning our video conferencing platform from Zoom to Microsoft Teams / GoToMeeting.
You can anticipate that your homeroom/subject teachers will provide you with GoToMeeting links. This full transition will be completed by 16 April 2020.
We have been very impressed with the high level of digital citizenship skills our community has demonstrated continuously showing integrity and respect whilst engaged in video conferencing. The GoToMeeting platform will allow our teachers to continue to connect with our families and students in a synchronous manner.
As we move forward with distance learning and video conferencing we ask that you continue to remind your children of the safeguarding practices that they need to follow.
§ Calling from an appropriate work area
§ Dress ready for school
§ Log in with their name
§ Display their name (if they are not using the camera)
§ Mute the microphone unless asked by the teacher
§ Ensure others in the house are aware they are on a video call
You can expect the following actions to continue to be taken by our teaching team
§ QF Schools Code of Conduct will be followed,
§ Acceptable User Protocols will be followed
§ video conferences will be recorded and archived on a secure drive,
§ instructional elements of videos may be posted on Seesaw or Managebac for student use only
We trust that this transition will meet the needs of our community whilst ensuring consistency and the continuity of learning.
Welcome back to another week of online learning. Here is a snapshot of G10 online learning for today.
Congratulations for successfully completing another week of online learning. Take some rest this weekend, enjoy quality time with your families, stay safe and healthy. We will see you next week.
Dear Families and Students
Welcome back from a restful Spring Break. I hope you had a chance to relax and enjoy time with your families. Thank you for you support with our new Online Learning timetable. We hope that this will help all our learners to find the best way to complete their requirements either in real time or in their own time as they wish.
Grade 10 students are busy with their mock exams all week. Therefore, there will be no regular classes. Normal classes resume next Sunday 29th March.
Attendance still matters so make sure you are completing the work/exams that has been prepared. If you are absent for 3 or more lessons a day, your HR teacher will send an email/make a phone call. Similar to if we were actually on campus, if you are ill, please send a doctors note to your HR teacher, so we can mark your attendance correctly.
Here is your mock exam schedule for the week
Well done to so many of you for being online and engaging in learning, great start to the continuous learning programme.
I hope you all enjoyed our first day of continuous learning using our online systems yesterday. Over the next few days you will see some videos, zoom invitations and assignments posted in your Google Classroom or Managebac classes.
For the next two days your teachers will be available for real-time communication between 7:30am and 1:00pm. The timings of your classes can be seen below.
Attendance is being monitored. You must interact with all your classes (including Homeroom) between 7:00am and 1:00pm in order to be marked present.
These days do count as part of your school attendance and you are required to engage and interact with every class.
If you have any questions please email your HR teacher and they will be able to support you.
You must go to Managebac / Google Classroom for details of the lessons.
Make sure that your laptop is charged so that you will be able to remain online and complete the tasks which will be set.
Teachers will be online throughout each lesson to answer any questions you have about the tasks.
Below is a reminder of your lessons for tomorrow. If tasks are completed / attempted you will be marked present for that lesson if not you will be marked absent.
