Today's classes included these and other learning experiences:
English Language and Literature: Advertising and media techniques used to elicit emotion and empathy.
Arabic Language and Literature: Before reading the text, research Henrik Ibsen (The Doll’s House) and learn about his writing style and the issues he defended in his writing.
Biology: Natural selections, diversity, through an understanding of Darwin’s finches.
Chemistry: Bond Enthalpy through text review, IB questions and answers.
Mathematics: Arithmetic & Geometric Sequences & Series video, exercises, self assessment.
The first full day of online learning went well in Grade 11 and 12 with high levels of engagement from all students.
Grade 11 worked on their Extended Essay research proposals, building their reading lists and planning any additional research or experiments they may need to do outside of school and away from the Internet. In Psychology they began a new unit on social and cultural psychology; in Chemistry they learned about ‘bond enthalpy’. In HS English 11 they were set a research essay on Inventions before the 1950s.
Teachers will be online throughout each lesson to answer any questions you have about the tasks.

I hope you all enjoyed our first day of continuous learning using our online systems yesterday. Over the next few days you will see some videos, zoom invitations and assignments posted in your Google Classroom or Managebac classes.
For the next two days your teachers will be available for real-time communication between 7:30am and 1:00pm. The timings of your classes can be seen below.
Attendance is being monitored. You must interact with all your classes (including Homeroom) between 7:00am and 1:00pm in order to be marked present.
These days do count as part of your school attendance and you are required to engage and interact with every class.
