It has been very pleasing to see attendance improve as the week has progressed. The feedback I received from most teachers is that most of you were engaged in lessons and submitted your work on time.

It is very pleasing to see student attendance and engagement increasing every day. Nine out of fifteen students attended, and submitted work for, all their lessons yesterday, with the rest only missing one class.

It was so pleasing to see that almost all of our Grade 9 students were present for homeroom this morning, and many of you were present in lessons yesterday. Don't forget to disconnect from technology for a little bit. We have a lot of extra screen time now with online learning and we still need to care for ourselves.

Welcome back from a restful Spring Break. I hope you had a chance to relax and enjoy time with your families. Thank you for you support with our new Online Learning timetable. We hope that this will help all our learners to find the best way to complete their requirements either in real time or in their own time as they wish.
Attendance still matters so make sure you are completing the work/exams that has been prepared. If you are absent for 3 or more lessons a day, your HR teacher will send an email/make a phone call. Similar to if we were actually on campus, if you are ill, please send a doctors note to your HR teacher, so we can mark your attendance correctly.
We know today wasn't easy. Believe me, teachers are also struggling and coming to terms with online learning as it is new to all of us.
As the weeks progress and we get used to the new schedules, systems, and expectations things will start to become easier and it will be our new "normal".
Please remember that all work that was set in today's 4 lessons are due at (or before) 7AM tomorrow morning.

You have successfully completed your first 3 days of online learning!! We are all still learning about how this works but THANK YOU for being active and engaged your classes.
Personal Project (Ms Sue)
Students in MYP 4 started thinking about a topic and global context for their MYP personal project. Students were actively engaged in the padlet, and it was pleasing to see some of the thought that has gone into choosing a topic and/or product for next year. The topics proposed by students were very personal and many of them had a strong focus on communities.

All students were present and actively engaged for the second day in a row. Well done to everyone who participated in online lessons this week.
Math - 9B (Mr Tyler)
85% attendance today, which is a big improvement on yesterday. Students are coming to terms with the demands of online learning in Math.
Please remember to check your emails and/or this Grade 9 page on a regular basis for important updates about online learning procedures and schedules for after Spring Break.
I will post additional information about our class schedule towards the end of the week so you know what learning will look like beginning March 22nd.
General Learning Update for today from your Grade Level Leader:
Congratulations on completing a full day of online learning. I am sure you may have found some things challenging while others may have been easy. I have heard great feedback about most of our Grade 9 students logging into ManageBac and completing their classroom tasks. Remember to follow the directions from your teacher to be marked as present in your class.
You may have noticed a 10 minute break in between classes. Please use this time to get up, stretch your legs and take care of yourself. If you are being invited to Zoom with your teacher, make sure you are dressed for learning. I would also suggest creating a learning space somewhere in your home that is NOT your bedroom.
At this time, please do not worry about checking in with your Homeroom teachers at the beginning of the day. As teachers, we are using this time to make sure we are ready to help you with your learning for the day. However, during your Homeroom block today, you are expected to work on a Personal Project task with Ms Sue. She will send you all instructions via Google Classroom, Managebac Messages and Padlet.
Design class (Mr Nik & Mr Eben) saw many students actively engaged and on task. Students looked at various alternative software to Adobe Photoshop in preparation for their Criterion C summative task. Most students were able to remain on task for the duration of the lesson.
9A Science (Mr. Mohammed) had 100% attendance today, with everyone on time and on task. Alls students were able to complete the work set.

I hope you all enjoyed our first day of continuous learning using our online systems yesterday. Over the next few days you will see some videos, zoom invitations and assignments posted in your Google Classroom or Managebac classes.
For the next two days your teachers will be available for real-time communication between 7:30am and 1:00pm. The timings of your classes can be seen below.
Attendance is being monitored. You must interact with all your classes (including Homeroom) between 7:00am and 1:00pm in order to be marked present.
These days do count as part of your school attendance and you are required to engage and interact with every class.
If you have any questions please email your HR teacher and they will be able to support you.
You must go to Managebac / Google Classroom for details of the lessons.
Make sure that your laptop is charged so that you will be able to remain online and complete the tasks which will be set.
Teachers will be online throughout each lesson to answer any questions you have about the tasks.
