Today's classes included these and other learning experiences:
Biology: revising human anatomy; the digestive system, through text review, IB questions and answers.
Chemistry: Stereoisomerism through text review, IB questions and answers.
Physics: completion of internal assessment (individual project) measurements and calculations.
Arabic Language and Literature: Jane Eyre, literature in translation: Defining the main and subsidiary idea in the excerpt, addressing the narrative techniques and stylistic and rhetorical tools.
English Language and Literature: Summary review of The Photographer text and/or a lens they chose to use during Socratic Seminars.
Mathematical Studies: review and revision of Descriptive Statistics.
Mathematics SL: Introduction to Differential Calculus; the concept of the derivative of a function and to apply it to optimization and other problems.
History: timed practice examination Paper 1: source analysis on South African apartheid.
The first full day of online learning went well in Grade 11 and 12 with high levels of engagement from all students.
Grade 12 have worked on the initiation of Apartheid laws in South Africa in History, writing an IB style exam essay on the role of specific laws and the impact on education and human rights. In English they are summarising their study of The Photographer through an interview with the author. In Spanish they were learning to use the conditional tense.
Teachers will be online throughout each lesson to answer any questions you have about the tasks.

For the next two days your teachers will be available for real-time communication between 7:30am and 1:00pm. The timings of your classes can be seen below.
Attendance is being monitored. You must interact with all your classes (including Homeroom) between 7:00am and 1:00pm in order to be marked present.
These days do count as part of your school attendance and you are required to engage and interact with every class.
