Our Websites, which are not only the 'world's window into us', but are also the aggregation points of our work, are constantly evolving and improving. I would like to thank Kent Somerville, particularly the outstanding work he has done in this domain and for the huge effort getting us ready for our ERO Review, as the two things are very closely connected. I believe that the coherence we were and are able to create with "Family of Sites" enabled us to tell our own story well and is a massive contributor to the good result we got with ERO. Thank you Kent.
In 2019 we have:
The content from the Pt England Website and the Manaiakalani site: http://www.manaiakalani.org/ , continue to be used heavily by people all round the world as reference sites for the way in which we lead learning.
During 2018 and 2019, Fiona, Lenva, Dave and Manaiakalani Hackers have developed and made available a Blogger App for our junior learners across Manaiakalani and its Outreach. Clarelle Carruthers has been our main test pilot and the development has been a great success for our Y1 - Y3 Learners
This is another Hacker development that has gone on between 2018 and 2019 and we now have feeds for the thousands of children in Manaiakalani and its Outreach. This is a stellar accomplishment which enables us to track and access the hundreds of thousands of blog posts our kids are making, along with the comments they receive.
The Manaiakalani collection of posts can be seen at http://www.manaiakalani.org/home
The Pt England collection of posts can be seen at https://www.ptengland.school.nz/
A BIG thank-you goes to Garth, Kent, and Dave Winter for testing devices, haggling, searching and trialling so that we can offer our Manaiakalani schools effectively bundled services and products that are appropriately priced as well as well tested.
A bunch of these things are now available for online purchasing by our schools via the NLG Web Portal. Well done Team!
During this year we have talked and partnered with
Dave Winter continues to work on behalf with the MOE SiSI project which focuses on migrating Learner data via the cloud as leaners transition from school to school.
We continue in partnership with Davanti and Data Futures to integrate data via a phone app for Health, Housing and Education. This has been a HUGE piece of work and is designed to build whanau capability by giving them rangitiratanga over their own data to enable them to advance the cause of their own families.
Leigh has done another amazing job as our school's data manager, managing ENROL, Assembly, and our various Academic Databases. Thank-You Leigh!
Pt England continues to be involved in trialling new education software innovations with a view to finding out whether first they can be valuable in our school, with a view to ascertaining whether they could be scaled to all 100 Manaiakalani Schools.
In 2020 we expect to be trialling Machine Learning and Analytics software along Literacy Curriculum software
Thanks again, to our Board comprised of Shannon Samuels (Board Chair), Joanna Thompson, Fatima Fifita, Ana Herbert, Greg Va'afusuaga and Sally Va'afusuaga. What a great year we've had!
Thanks so much Board of Trustees, for all you make possible and for the work that for many of you goes back years now!
I simply could not do the work I do for Manaiakalani and our community of schools and learners if the Pt England Board did not support and approve this work. This Board of Trustees is a very generous hearted and faithful group of people continuing to support the innovation that we have carried out over the years at Pt England School.
Board Team, you are a blessing and I love working with you.
