We have elected to display in this report, the cohorts for which we report to the New Zealand Ministry of Education. Through the use of data from NZCER (Reading Comprehension PAT) and the use of Google sheets to generate the below graphs we are able to see a number of interesting trends. Note; -this data set begins at Y4 because that's where PAT Reading Comp begins.
In every class and year level there are learners who made more than a year's progress in a year. We did not manage this "across the board" and cannot claim this as an average result.
Results by gender mostly map onto each other by Y8. Boys start behind girls but catch up by the end of primary school.
Pasifika start behind Māori but mostly catch up by Y8. Tongan learners are marginally behind at Y8 and a small group of Special Needs learners at Y8 are also mostly Tongan. We are discussing what we can put in place earlier in the learning journey to assist this
