Citrus Project:

Flow Plates

A group of scent Flow Plates created with resin, heat shrinkable films, dried citrus and watercolor, using heat shrinkable films and watercolor to mimic the look of flow and resin and dried citrus to create transparent textures and effects with different light effects. The scent contains notes of citrus and resin itself.

Out of the Box

A group project made through wire, various kitchen utensils, wax with kitchen scent and an earphone. This headset plays homemade kitchen sounds. When people put on the headphones and stand in the middle of the hanging ring, they can feel like they are in a busy kitchen.

Twilight in the Forest

A tree made of wire of different thicknesses, fixed on a transparent acrylic sheet molded forest of large trees. Use cardboard and acrylic to paint a small box on the tree and put the main scent in the box. The roots, trunk and branches of the tree are scented differently to create the scene and mood of the twilight forest.

Written on the Body

Aromatic Avatar

A group of decorative designs with the concept of otherworldly elves. Using stone, UV resin, wire and plastic to make headdresses, hairpieces, wings, necklaces and rings.

Worked with Michelle Zhang.

Protective Mask

A three-effect mask made with only UV resin and a heat-shrinkable sheet. It can be fixed on a person's cheek with slight adjustment without a string. In addition to the color that can be seen on the top, it will have different colors under UV light and will fluoresce immediately after.

Part I:

Installation

Group members: Zhiyu Huang, Michelle Zhang, Ziyu Li, Yaze Li.

A group project, Magic in Music I, using Ghosts I as a background concept for the creation of the installation. Inspired by Ghosts I, the concept of the installation we created is that a man lives in a fine and tidy room, and he goes about his day to day life. He is good at recording each day and living his life in an organized way. But he finds himself alone, living in a world of repetition. Every day is the same day, nothing changes, and he is stuck in the gap of time living forever. When he found out, he still lived his life, but tried to break the space with different events each day. Finally he gave up and ended up in a roaring fire in this exquisite room that seemed boring but was rich every day.

Part 2:

Immersive Sound

This is a combination work of original music and scents. The concept of this work is to sit in a Chinese teahouse with Chinese instruments and Western instruments on stage. People are drinking hot tea, and the aroma of tea and the sound waves of music are combined in the air.

The Poetry of Longing

Love Letter

A work of art book created based on Nine Songs as the background of the story. Based on the context of Nine Songs and the current culture, this art book expresses the meaning of love letter in a novel way. In ancient China, people expressed their appreciation or liking for a person through calligraphy and inscriptions, so the famous poem Li Sao, written by Qu Yuan after Nine Songs, was written in this way.

Ritual Alter

A ritual alter utilizing scent and any other medium of their choice to further discover ideas of mysticism and symbolism in art. The concept of this ritual alter is Dream Place. Everyone dreams, but the dreams are very different and vary in frequency. As a person who dreams every day, I am curious about the world in my dreams. They are abstract but somehow very figurative at the same time. I can remember the patterns, the colors, the characters and stories in my dreams, but never seem to smell anything in my dreams. Combining psychological analysis of dreams and the ancient Chinese culture of dream interpretation, we created this alter, which uses wire, tracing paper, and various small and marginal objects. The scenes and stories of my dreams were written/drawn on the tracing paper. While the person on one side is praying, there must be another person lying behind to maintain the balance. Maybe when the person in front picks up something, or prays to achieve some dream, the person behind will dream about them tonight.

Violet Myth

A myth vessel inspired creation about Violet. Through the myth and story of Violet, a decorative box is made from broken decorative boxes as if it were Victoria's period work, expressing Violet's humble love. With the addition of the fragrance of violet, we want to express the mysterious and charming image of Violet.

Umbrellas and warm scarf

Cassie and I disassembled the umbrellas, one to form a new two-piece umbrella, and the other to sew up with various materials of paper, wire and thread. Then we used the discarded fabric to make a scarf that can warm up the body in winter. One of the two umbrellas has practicality while the other is more interesting. These may bring warmth to people in winter/rainy days.
