Citrus Project

The tangerine mitten is tangerine peels that are handsewn together. The idea is to preserve the citrus smell when peeling the tangerine. When wearing the mitten, the citrus note combines with the skin notes. and. becomes softer.

Out of the Box

This project aims to create an isolated immersive enivrionment for meditation and relaxation. The fabric extends the hat and acts as a blinds. A plastic tube with metal balls inside is inserted on the rim of the hat at the height of one's ears. When moving around, the metal balls goes around. to create a sound and vibration that disorientates the wearer and takes him outside the reality. Twilight in the Forest

The nesting doll eggs have the airbrush texture that represents the light element. The act of opening one egg to find another is like trying to solve a mystery. In the end the viewer finds the egg to be empty but contains a mysterious scent, which is resinous with some tabacco that. smells like witchcraft and magic.

To go with the character, we created a scent with hair gel, tabacco, cheap perfume and sweet.

Protective Mask

The mask is made out of different tea bags that combined with dark woods creates a 'healthy' scent that protects the wearer from disease.

Music I

The installation creates a maze using ropes and hangers. There's a confusing scent placed on these obstacles that is supposed to disorientate the audience. As the music proceeds, the audience feels the gradual tension in their slow movement.

Love Letter

From pigeon messager to folded airplane, flying has always been an interesting way to pass on information. Using the couching techinque, I create a secret language using the stitch work. The fabric is then folded into an airplane. The scent is a combination of stone and body that has the freshness of flying and the presence and warmth of another person.

Altar

Our altar project is about the ritual of worshiping the Kiln God, Tong Bin. It was said to be around 1599 when the government commissioned the official ceramics factory to make an enormous cylinder with blue dragon motifs. It was unprecedentedly big that the craftsmen failed again and again. Already working at minimum wage, they were oppressed like slaves. To stand up against the hegemony, Tong Bin jumped into the kiln fire and sacrificed himself. The very next day the cylinder was fired successfully. After that, he became the Kiln God. During the ritual, there are usually candles and couplets with words to pray for good luck from the Kiln God where people kneel down and pray.

Sancturay I

According to folklore, there used to be only white sakura. However, many warriors died under sakura trees and their blood and spirits had turned the sakura red. That was where pink and red sakura came from. From the sad story, I created a bitter scent using stone and chinese medicine. The vessel is an empty film can that reprents a pointless reminiscence.

Sancturay II

A portable sanctuary was created by. inserting an earphone with chrysanthemum flowers into nylon mesh tube. The structure references medical aparatus for the idea of how nature cures and calms people. The scent is the natural scent of chrysanthemum with drops of green. I also rubbed fresh mint on it to add freshness. This apparatus would actually function as a earphone that when you plug it into your phone, you can be surrounded by sounds of nature, which I composed with zither. The music and scent creates an immersive experience of nature.
