the citrus project - " summer memories"
out of the box - "the kitchen"
This is a group project in which the materials consist of wire, various kitchen utensils, wax with kitchen scent, and an earphone. This headset plays homemade kitchen sounds. When people put on the headphones and stand in the middle of the hanging ring, they can feel like they are in a busy kitchen.
twilight in the forest
A bag made of over 50 hand-crocheted flowers ( 100% wool yarns).
Scented with "light flower" + "dark wood" in the scent kits.
aromatic avatar - "phoenix"
Our aromatic avatar is the Phoenix. We chose this mythological bird because of the texture and meaning behind this figure. The bird symbolizes immortality, death, and rebirth, with elements of the cleansing nature of fire. We chose to create a one-shoulder epaulet constructed of gold chain, accented with hand-dyed and constructed orange and yellow fabric feathers. The regal nature of epaulet speaks to the divine, respected nature of a Phoenix. With tinctured cinnamon, matches, and our scent kit ‘smoke’, the scents we have chosen are reminiscent of heat, smoke, and fire.

It's a story about we met on a rainy day.
Just listen.
the poetry of longing - "always thinking of you"
It's about two gods' love story. It's a gift from one who traveled to the world during Qing Dynasty in the east.
I hand-sewed the traditional Chinese paper into a book. I also created the mini Magua, which is a popular garment at that time.
Both are souvenirs, gifts, to her beloved man.
ritual alter - "write down your wishes"
The law of attraction is the New Thought spiritual belief that positive or negative thoughts bring positive or negative experiences into a person's life. The belief is based on the idea that people and their thoughts are made from "pure energy" and that like energy can attract like energy, thereby allowing people to improve their health, wealth, or personal relationships.
In 1855, the term "Law of Attraction" appeared in The Great Harmonia, written by the American spiritualist Andrew Jackson Davis, in a context alluding to the human soul and spheres of the afterlife.
The New Thought concept of the law of attraction is rooted in ideas that come from various philosophical and religious traditions. It has been inspired by Hermeticism, New England transcendentalism, specific verses from the Bible, and Hinduism.
New Thought authors often quote certain verses from the Bible in the context of the law of attraction. An example is Mark 11:24: "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."
orchids - myth - scent - box
Mythology
In classical mythology, Orchis, the son of a satyr and a nymph, was turned into a flower after his death. In his Materia Medica, the first century A.D. Greek physician Dioscorides hypothesized that orchids influenced sexuality. Ever since, people have associated the plant with virility, fertility, sex determination, and other aspects of reproduction, inspired perhaps by the exotic appearance, fragrance, and frankly erotic aspect of its flower’s sexual parts. The English Victorian John Ruskin called the flowers “prurient apparitions.”
In different cultures
Early Greek parents believed they could control the sex of their unborn children with orchid roots. If the father ate large, new tubers, the child would be male; if the mother ate small tubers, the child would be female. European scholars believed that orchids sprang from the ground on which animals had bred. They were thought to be the food of satyrs and powerful aphrodisiacs. In ancient China and Japan, they were revered for their aesthetic and artistic value. Confucius compared the orchid flower to the superior man and its scent to the pleasures of friendship. In modern times the genus Paphiopedilum was named for Paphos, a temple where the love goddess Aphrodite was worshipped.
The Scent of Orchids is created by mixing 2 dark wood and 1 sweet from my replicate scent kits.
I hand-sewed a small bag for the box of the orchid perfume. The only decoration of the cross-body bag is the topstitching of one orchid in its front side.
-- I wish to deliver a sense of silence, and high quality to it, which is the concept of orchids in ancient China.
sanctuary - " warm, safe, dry, fun"
It's a deconstruction and reconstruction project. We disassembled the umbrellas, one to form a new two-piece umbrella, and the other to sew up with various materials of paper, wire, and thread. Then we used the discarded fabric to make a scarf that can warm up the body in winter. One of the two umbrellas has practicality while the other is more interesting. The four pieces - each of them can bring people warm, safe, dry, and fun feelings.
