We decided to create the character "Tin Woman" as opposed to the Tin Man from Wizard of Oz. Unlike Tin Man who constantly seeks love, our aromatic avatar gives out love.
Our group recreated the emotion of helplessness and ambiguity through fabric, wind, and light.
The interactive installation provides a space for people to experience emotions from both the inside and outside.
I took reference from the Chinese Ouija, a dark ritual that conjures the Diexian with blood, and converted it to my own concept.
The hair band is made with multiple "Chinese Knots", which carries the meaning of reunion, friendliness, peace, warmth, marriage, and love. I decided to make it into a decoration on head instead of rings or bracelets because hair is significant in Chinese marriage. Giving your hair to another person means giving your whole body to him/her, that's why couples cut and exchange their hair to show commitment.
