New employees are required to provide evidence of eligibility for employment as established by the Department of Homeland Security - U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and must complete the appropriate portions of Form I-9.
The On-Boarding DocuSign Package includes a virtual link where the new hire can complete Section 1 of the I-9 Form. This can be completed anytime after an employment offer is accepted through the date of hire.
New Hires are required to meet in person to process and verify their I-9 documents within three (3) work shifts from their start date. A member of the Human Resources team will be scheduling a calendar invitation setting up a time and date to meet with the New Hire and collect original documents for verification. We strongly encouraged to present the required documentation on the employee's first day of work.
If you are not sure what are the eligible documents you can present, review Homeland Security Employment Eligibility Form, I-9.
The Human Resources Department retains the I-9 Forms and photocopies of the employee's eligibility documentation. Hiring departments or offices should not maintain duplicate copies of the I-9 forms and substantiating documents.
All I-9’s are entered by Human Resources into our Equifax system that connects with a system provided by Homeland Security called E-Verify.
The E-Verify program is a web-based system operated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in partnership with the Social Security Administration that allows employers to electronically verify the employment authorization of newly hired employees.
