"You may be a year away from finishing the course, but itβs vital that you consider your future career and options for progression. A personal brand identity is essential in order to be a successful creative professional. You are required to put together materials to promote yourself to employers, clients and/or universities and should explore a range of career opportunities, produce valuable materials and demonstrate specialist skills relating to your goals for personal progression. This will include a portfolio website, which is expected to be presented in an engaging format that clearly records your progress and development as a media practitioner, while also illustrating your creative strengths and skills. Alongside the website, you will present a separate body of work that includes a personal statement highlighting your creative ability. You will conduct research into HE (Higher Education) and career aspirations, write a CV, outline the production of your website portfolio, produce promotional materials, and prepare notes showing areas for your development and future planning. Finally, you will also showcase your professional use of social media, including LinkedIn (mandatory) and others appropriate to you, such as relevant social media and video platforms."
"Peterborough College are looking to showcase current and previous Media students' creative work on their website and Social Media, to help engage with potential employers and those looking to work with local creative media practitioners (that's you the student).
You will need to produce a media product that can be viewed or listened to on the Peterborough College website and YouTube channel.
After studying your chosen career paths, now is your opportunity to fully showcase your practical and pre-production skills, as well as knowledge of the industry.
The product you are to produce will also be used on your personal websites / portfolios to help show employers your current skill sets, exemplifying what you have learned, and the practical skills you have gained. This will include extensive research into your chosen style and format, publishing platforms, engaging audiences, and continued development of your chosen skill."
