Course Description:
In this course, students will learn important life skills to help them succeed after high school. Topics include managing money, such as budgeting for expenses, writing checks, understanding different types of insurance, and calculating repair costs. Students will also learn about renting, including leases, rental agreements, security deposits, and basic rental maintenance.
The course covers basic home construction through presentations, followed by a hands-on project to practice what they’ve learned. Students will gain important knowledge about home maintenance schedules, simple repairs, landscaping, and the costs of owning a home to prepare for future homeownership. Students may also learn basic car care skills that everyday drivers can use. This course is designed to equip students with the skills and understanding needed for real-world responsibilities.

Grades: 10-12 (Recommended 11-12)
Dual Credit Opportunity: Open to all high school students.
Class Notes: This class meets the PESD-Required financial literacy credit requirement for current 11th-12th grade students.
