GROUP ARTIST STATEMENT
We decided to use plain paper and colored pencil to really bring our comic “to life”. With our materials and individual skills that we had really felt like deciding to do the comic. This would really showcase them in a better way than other ideas. An inspiration we all connected with was our scientist from the Little Bird Lab, Valerie. Her answer to the bird war question really inspired all of us in different ways, and that ended up with us coming to the comic idea. One specific moment that really reflects our thesis is the scenes in our comic where the birds are actually fighting each other. We felt that these connected most because in a way it helps the reader go more in depth of what our story is about.
Working as a group taught us to combine our different ideas together and work efficiently through our artistic side. Our target audience for this project would be comic book consumers as that was our chosen form of media. What our work says about birds and people, is that birds and people are alike in a way. For example, birds fight each other and get territorial when it comes to their homes and food. In which, people do the same at times. Our different ideas helped bring our work “to life”.
