ADMISSION CRITERIA
LESSON PLAN
Sports Medicine (SM) is a specialized career specific event that highlights students’ ability to write an exam alongside a practical component. SM students are versatile in that they should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of athletic injuries, infections, and nutrition. There will be 50 multiple choice questions with a time limit of 60 minutes to complete them. The top scoring competitors will advance to round 2 for the performance of selected skills identified in a written scenario. The written test score will be used as a part of the final score.
This event is not limited to students with a background of competitive sports experience. Sports medicine allows students the opportunity to learn and familiarize themselves with common injuries and the benefit of a healthy body.

The test score from Round One will be used to qualify the competitor for the Round Two skills.
Round 2: The skills approved for this round include:
*The selected skill(s) for Round Two will be in the form of a written scenario and will be presented to the competitor at the start of the skill to be performed. One or more skills may be combined in the scenario.
Skill I: Flexibility Exercises (6 minutes)
Skill II: Assessment
Assess ROM and Strength Testing of Shoulder (5 minutes)
Assess ROM and Strength Testing of Ankle and Foot (5 minutes)
Skill III: Taping
