LESSON PLAN
Aspiring to become a healthcare professional in the field of dentistry? Or perhaps you’re looking for a new science field to explore? Either way, TFSS HOSA’s Dental Science Team will be of your uttermost interest. Participation in this event will allow you to acquire a strong experience within the studies of dental care and will assist you in securing a deeper understanding of the subject, for both personal and educational use in your future.
Dental Science is a knowledge and skill-performance-based event consisting of a total of two competitive rounds. The first round will be a written examination of 50 standardized multiple-choice questions, covering a wide range of dental concepts and theories, all of which will be directly based on the provided textbook resource. Round one’s top-scoring competitors will then advance to Round Two, which is the examination of dental skills. Of the 7 skills asked to have learned, one or two will be asked to be performed in front of the judges. Students are to perform these procedures within a particular timing.
Those who perform very well will then be placed in the top 10 at the closing ceremony. The overall purpose of this event is to test competitors’ comprehension skills, and the ability to recall and apply the learned content. The event also tests one's thinking, adaptability and professionalism.
