DUE PROCESS: In the context of after-school programming, due process refers to a fair, transparent, and student-centered decision-making process that protects the rights of students and families. It ensures that no student is excluded unfairly or without support, and that all actions taken are legally compliant, trauma-informed, and equitable.
PURPOSE: This procedure outlines the required steps for removing a student—whether voluntary or involuntary—from an after-school program. It is designed to ensure all actions are legally compliant, trauma-informed, equitable, and accessible to families. In alignment with ExLO’s Due Process Policy, no student may be suspended, withdrawn, or removed without full documentation, meaningful family engagement, and formal approval from the Expanded Learning Office. Agencies must cross-reference this guidance with their internal discipline policies and affirm alignment annually to uphold consistency, equity, and compliance across all programs.
