Each QSC can use this tool to record their program goals and evaluate their progress throughout the year. We recommend sharing with your Principal, Site Coordinator and Program Manager to collaborate on your areas of focus and access the support you may need.
Be sure to review the potential areas of focus tab to support your thinking about the needs at your program.
Each year our Expanded Learning Programs are evaluated by Public Profit. You can access your schools data here to to help you gauge the reality of our programming and reflect on areas of growth.
Site Coordinators
If your school site does not have a QSC assigned, work with your Agency Director and Program Manager to help you talk with the Principal about identifying a teacher who would be the best fit for this role. Think about the areas of your program that could benefit from the support of a QSC and how you can collaborate with them to align your program with the school day's vision.
If you have a returning QSC, have them complete and submit their application so you can get started as soon as they are processed.
To strengthen the alignment between the school day and Expanded Learning programs, each school site is required to designate a Quality Support Coach (QSC), a certificated teacher who helps ensure the afterschool program reflects the culture, climate, and instructional priorities of the school community.
The Expanded Learning Office has set aside a budget of $3,050 per site, which is already included in your site’s budget, to support this role. This equates to 64 hours of paid time that the QSC can use to advance alignment goals.
If a school site does not currently have a QSC, principals should work with their Site Coordinator to identify a teacher who would be the best fit for the role. Consider which areas of your program could benefit from additional support and how a QSC can help bridge your school day and afterschool efforts.
Principals have oversight of the QSC’s work and can highlight specific program areas they would like the QSC to focus on, ensuring that their efforts are aligned with the school’s vision and priorities.
This year, QSCs will also maintain a QSC Journal to reflect on their area of focus and track progress. Each QSC will share their journal with their principal to foster collaboration and strengthen the connection between their work and the school’s broader goals.
Returning QSCs should complete and submit their application to begin work as soon as possible. Reach out to your ExLO Program Manager for further guidance, support or to set up a meeting to review the program and the possibilities at your school.
