Translations of the UED-30 enrollment for can be created via Parent Square. Here are the instructions on how to access the UED Enrollment form on Parent Square (The benefit of accessing the document via Parent Square is that it automatically translates all communications in the Parent’s preferred language.).
Specific questions that were raised by Principals, Agency Directors, and Site Coordinators on UED Program Design, Transitions & Schedule, Enrollment & Family Communication, Staffing, Space Usage, and Documentation & Data.
This provides an inventory of planning considerations and complexities that sites should consider to develop effective and equitable plans for Universal Extended Day.
Login to Quip, open your school folder, then the subfolder for 2023-2024, then open the file named: “23-24 Universal Extended Day - 30 Minutes Program Plan - School Name”. This is the planning template that must be used for all UED program plans.
Design Principles
We will attend to...
Belonging and Equity
We prioritize students' sense of belonging and resources that address opportunity gaps. Our plans include intentional reflection and evaluation processes that illustrate the impact on different student subgroups.
Power and Connectedness
We seek out opportunities to strengthen relationships across positionality, race, identity, class, and age differences. We recognize our connectedness by honoring community assets and strengthening collaboration between school-day and after-school staff.
Clarity and Community
All stakeholders deserve access to timely, clear, and accurate information about the policies, processes, and purpose of the program. Community members (staff, families, and students) should have opportunities to provide feedback on program design and implementation.
Coherence and Alignment
We align programming with existing goals, resources, and systems to maximize impact and minimize undue burden. To support students and staff, UED programming should leverage existing assets and skills. We create coherence between existing initiatives, workflows, and collaborations.
Building Effective Systems
Teams analyze the site-specific contexts, parameters, and logistics to maximize effectiveness. (i.e., schedules, student nutrition, staffing, after-school programming, transportation, attendance reporting, and safety procedures). We recognize and navigate complexity and interrelatedness in our analyses, decisions, and designs.
