Fluency Practice With Shadow Puppet

Shadow Puppet is an app that allows the user to create mini-slideshow movies. It's a great option if you'd like to hear students record their voices as they read several pages of text, or if you'd like students to publish their writing. Shadow Puppet movies are easily shared to Seesaw or the iPad Camera Roll.

Fluency Practice with Flip

Flip  is a video posting site that allows users to post quick selfie videos. It's a great way for students to practice fluency, recommend books, and/or show what they know.

Conferring with Doc Appender

DocAppender is a Google Form Add-On that organizes your conferring notes. DocAppender also organizes notes in a folder and timestamps them. Here are some resources:

BookSnaps with Seesaw

With BookSnaps, students take a picture of a short quote from a book, then annotate and record a voiceover to share their understanding of the passage, offer a prediction, or voice an opinion. 

 Seesaw is a great format for BookSnaps. Once students have created BookSnaps with Seesaw, they can comment on each other's work in virtual book clubs.

Character Study with Seesaw

Seesaw can be used for literacy. Students can use the Draw, Photo, and Microphone features to show what they know, or teachers can push activities to their class to strategically target concepts. Check out these Activity links and resources:

Flipgrid is a video posting site that allows users to post quick selfie videos. Students can post videos acting out scenes as characters from their books based on teacher prompts (e.g., "What would you do if you were _______?"). 

Character Study with Chatterpix

Chatterpix is a fun app that allows students to make any character "talk" in their voice. Students can upload their own images or drawings, or they can use Chatterpix's library of avatars. It's a fun way to practice fluency, publish writing, or act out a scene as a character.
