Text-to-Speech

Apple text-to-speech, also called Speak Selection, is an accessibility feature that exists on your iPhone or iPad. You can hear selected text read, the entire screen read aloud from top to bottom or listen to text as you type it.

Setting Up Speak Selection

Go to Settings.

Scroll down and tap Accessibility.

Tap Spoken Content.

Toggle Speak Selection on (grey is off, green is on).

Close Settings.

Using Speak Selection

Open a website.

Touch and hold to select a word.

Select more text by dragging the handles...

or

long touch and slide your finger along the text you want selected.

Select Speak in the black pop-up menu.

Select Pause to stop.

Go back to Settings to alter Speaking Rate, Highlight Content or Voices.
