Google Voice Typing Instructions

Open a Google Doc.

Go to Tools, Voice Typing (if you see a dialogue box asking to Use your microphone, click Allow).

A "mic" will show up next to your document. Click the mic to voice type.

When the mic turns red, look for a red blinking dot on the window tab. Begin speaking when the dot stops blinking.

Speak in a clear voice. Refer to Voice Typing Picture Instructions to assist in student training.

Headphones/earbuds with mic are helpful in noisy environments.

Click the red mic to stop voice typing.

Scroll over the small ? for Voice typing help. This will give you examples of how to type with your voice and other available commands.

  • Think before you speak.

  • Enunciate.

  • Add punctuation.

  • Practice (don't give up if it doesn't work right away).
