Research Data & Design

The goal of this essay was to give us students the experience of finding a variety of sources, learning about a topic, creating a thesis, and writing what we have learned in a formal paper.  The class can choose a topic to research from a list that covers a wide variety of world issues. No one could have the same topic, so there was a huge range of things that people wrote about. For my topic, I wanted to write about the negative impacts of social media, especially when it comes to teenagers like me. This assignment was a glow becuase since it was something I closely related to and also struggled with, I was able to go into this paper with the prior knowledge that I had. My thesis was very strong, my body paragraghs flowed smoothly, and I ended my closing statments strong as well. My research teacher Mr.Johnson told me that it was even an enjoyable read because of the research I included in it. And that made me really satisfied with my work.

For this essay, we had 80 minutes to read two articles that talked about the impacts of fracking. We used  the two sources to compare and contrast the documents to prove an original thesis statement. The class had to argue whether fracking helped the enviornment in a good or bad way. This would be a grow for me becuase I was not able to complete my whole essay by the time the class ended, like how I intended. I think that is one of my biggest flaws when it comes to writing. I almost never finish a complete essay if it has to be done in class, and that it something that I have to work on more and more. By the time I get to college, I want to be able to scan articles more quickly and effciently, and be able to make a strong thesis paper about it in a limited amount of time. And I will succeed with continuous practice.

The objective of this assignment was to create a literature review paper for our Capstone project. Within this literature review, there is a introduction, and 4 sections that explains the background information on the specific product, the problem that we are trying to solve with this innovative tool, what already exist, and the main focus of the product and why it would be more beenficial to use, compared to other inventions out there. This is a glow for me becuase me and two group members, Renaldine & Naomi were very persistent in making sure that the information that we were sharing about our RENNOVA Lenses were accurate and made sense for the veiwers who may be interested in it in the future.  Another crucial part about this assignment was making sure the citations were correct for every single source. It was a very tedious job becuase even a minor mistake is big when it comes to majot papers like these. So it was important for us to keep looking over it to make sure everything was good and organized.

For this assignment, we had to do another in-class essay based how technology inside and outside of school affects students mental health overall. We had three sources to choose from to explain the how different factors of school and social can actually take a toll on teens in their everyday life. This would be a grow for me again becuase even through I did do better than the last one, it was only becuase Mr.Johnson gave us extra time at home and in class to finish, which doesn't really count. And when we started this essay for the first time, I kind of got overwhelmed due from having to keep switching from article to article. And that kind of slowed down the process of getting all of my evidence together to make the paper stronger.
