All the World's A Stage (Museum App) - Rough Prototype

This week's homework is a super simple and rough prototype for a project that I'd maybe like to try fleshing out later.

In the envisioned experience, the user would scan an artwork that is of the "dance" category. Then the user would be prompted to pose in their favorite dance pose or a pose based on other dance-related artworks from around the museum. Lastly, the user would be able to see other people's poses in the same scene. I wanted to create a "global stage" so that if a different user scans a different dance artwork, they would see the same stage of poses and be able to contribute their own as well. The envisioned audience is for families, or younger visitors who don't normally pursue going to museums and therefore would embrace technology in a museum setting.

This is ultimately a body-tracking app, so for this iteration, I substituted that technology out with a simpler interaction of having the user choose their pose via button. Users will be able to identify their selection by inputting their name.

In a later iteration, I would also like to include more information about the particular style of dance associated with the artwork - for example more information about ballet would be available if the user scanned The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer by Edgar Degas. I'd also like the user to be able to take home their pose.

Ultimately I wanted the experience to highlight these concepts:

  • Dance as an art form is accessible - anyone can dance

  • Different dance forms arise from different culture
